Harper's Birthday Party

My Harper girl turned one!!!! OMG! Where has this year gone??? We celebrated Harper's birthday at the Splash Pad at Williamson Regional Park. Family and friends joined in the festivities.  It was so much fun seeing the kids playing and interacting.  And watching Harper stare everyone down(she gives a good stink eye) and scoot to where she wanted to go (seriously, when is this child going to crawl or walk?!?!)  All in all,fun was had by all!  Thanks everyone for making Harper's first birthday party a smashing success!!

Bath time fun

Gumbo love

Harper loves Gumbo, or Dado as she likes to call her.

Angels or Dodgers????

That is the question.  I grew up cheering and going to see the California Angels.  Matt has always been a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, rooting and going to Dodgers Stadium.  Who will Harper be cheering for??

Doesn't she look happier in red????

Just Keep Swimming!

Harper started swim lessons at the YMCA this week.

So far we've learned that Harper:
-LOVES watching what's going on around her
-really enjoys the foam kickboard
-loves splashing with her arms
-is not too fond of going under the water.

We'll work on the last one!

New Orleans bound!

So what's a road trip without New Orleans?? Not a very good one if you ask us! Of course we made a pit stop in the Big Easy (and a couple of side trips!). We had to introduce Harper to NOLA and our good friend Nora!  We had a lot of fun hanging out, even if it was just for a couple of short days!

Side trip #1: The Jim Beam Distillery

Pretty whiskey.  Too bad I don't like it straight :( I'll give you one guess as to who drank my samples!

Side Trip # 2: Nashville, TN

Visited Grand Ole Opry and ate some GOOD biscuits at
the Loveless Cafe.

Driving on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge (the longest bridge over water at 23 miles long)

New Orleans at last!

Harps, Nora, and I

Harper was mesmerized by Nora Filos, as most people are when they meet her!

On the Steamboat Natchez riverboat cruise

Harper littered in the Mississippi River.

Harper was not impressed by Bourbon Street.  Good girl!

Mommy and Daddy have spent a night or two (or a dozen, who really remembers??)
at the Cat's Meow Karaoke Bar

She loved beignets and chickory coffee at Cafe du Monde!!

Not really. Just gave her a little taste of powdered sugar
