Harper's All Growns Up!!

TMI-TMI-TMI-TMI-TMI-TMI-TMI-TMI

Okay, now that I got out of the way...... My baby has totally self-weaned :(   She's so uninterested with nursing.  She'd rather look around, roll around on the bed, or just blow raspberries (motorboating, anyone??)

Don't get me wrong. I am very happy that she is independent and loves to hold her own bottle.  She is gaining weight, loves formula, and is finally eating REAL FOOD!! YAY!!  But she is just too cool for my boobies, and that makes me sad. I really wanted to nurse her until 1 year.  But she had other plans.  I think what makes me the saddest is how quickly she's growing up. **tear**

Our first nursing session.  Such an amazing day.

But, alas, Harper wants nothing to do with nursing now.

Here are some pictures of what Harper would rather eat.
Her foot

Yummy food.  Mangoes and oatmeal, I believe.

Her  bottle.

Apple puffs

A hunk of banana

Sophie the Giraffe

I don't even need your help, Mama!

Next thing we know, she'll be driving herself to Taco Bell!!

My First Mother's Day!

Last Sunday was my first Mother's Day.  It meant so much to me because I am truly honored and blessed to be Harper's mommy.  It took almost two years for us to conceive and I have many friends that have struggled with starting a family.  So needless to say, I don't take this role lightly.

I had a super first Mommy's Day.  I slept in a little (Thanks Matt!), we went to brunch with all the family, Harper and Matt bought me an actual nightstand (simple pleasures :) and a membership to a yoga studio ( I survived my first Bikram yoga class!).  All in all, it was a great day!  I thank God everyday for blessing us with our little Harps and for giving me the most important role of my life: being a mom.

Easter 2011

We had such a nice Easter weekend!  Matt's Uncle Mike and Aunt Susan came from NC to visit the TX fam.  We had a great time hanging out in Fredericksburg and at Grandma and Grandpa's house on Easter. And Harper had fun meeting them for the first time! Very memorable Easter.  Next year, Harps gets to go Easter Egg Hunting.  Oh Joy!

Harper didn't want to shop in Fredericksburg. She wanted to play

Harper's so strong, she can tear napkins!

FOOD!!!

Okay, so our doc gave us the go ahead to start rice cereal when Harper turned 4 months.  We were excited to start with real food! We thought Harper would be too.  But, alas, she had no desire to eat "real" food.  This is what we've had to deal with for the past few months:

1st rice cereal attempt, 4 months

One month later, she's still grossed out.

Introducing peas!

Yuck!

Yea! Dinnertime is over :)

Oatmeal??? Really guys, this stuff tastes like cardboard!

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to get Harper on board with eating.  She didn't even like applesauce! What kid doesn't like applesauce?!?  So I was reading up on ways to get stubborn babies to eat, and one way was feeding them using your finger.  Another way is letting them be in charge of eating.  We tried both, and she actually doesn't turn away in disgust and start crying.  She doesn't eat a lot, but at least she's trying.  Let's hope this pickiness doesn't last!

Hmmm....your finger tastes good Momma!

Gimme some more of that yummy oatmeal!

We upgraded Harps to her new highchair

Give me that spoon!!

I like carrots! And I like to make a mess in my new highchair!
